At New Jerusalem, we exist to empower people, equip disciples, and engage the community for Christ. We empower people through biblical preaching, transformative teaching, and life-giving small groups that strengthen faith and purpose. We equip disciples through Bible Study, Sunday School, and small-group discipleship, grounding believers in the Word of God for daily living. We engage the community through intentional outreach initiatives, meeting spiritual and practical needs beyond the church walls.

We are building a church where souls believe in Jesus Christ, become who God has called them to be, and belong to a thriving, multi-generational, multi-racial community of faith— impacting lives one soul, one disciple, and one block at a time.

What We Believe:

At New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, we believe the Bible is God's inspired, authoritative, and trustworthy Word, revealing His plan of salvation through Jesus Christ. We believe in one true God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—and that salvation is a gift of God's grace received by faith in Jesus Christ alone. We affirm the deity, death, burial, resurrection, and promised return of Jesus Christ, and the transforming work of the Holy Spirit in the life of every believer. We practice believer's baptism by immersion and observe the Lord's Supper as ordinances established by Christ. We believe the Church exists to worship God, make disciples, serve others, and proclaim the Gospel to all nations. As followers of Christ, we are committed to living lives marked by faith, love, holiness, integrity, and compassion while advancing God's Kingdom until Christ returns.

OUR LEADER

Pastor LaThomas D. Willis, Sr. (affectionately known as “LT”) is a native of Oak Park, Michigan, in the Detroit Metropolitan area, and serves as the Lead Pastor of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in Inkster, Michigan. A passionate servant leader with a heart for God and people, Pastor Willis is committed to building faith, strengthening families, and transforming lives through the uncompromising Word of God—one soul at a time.

Pastor Willis is joined in ministry and life by his wife, Lady Kimberly Willis, whose dedication, support, ministry, and love for people continue to help shape the heart of the ministry. Together, they are proud parents of four children.

A lifelong learner and visionary leader, Pastor Willis holds a Bachelor degree in Sociology from University of Michigan and a Master’s degree in Psychology from University of Phoenix. He has continued in biblical studies through the Tony Evans Training Center and has received certification in Pastoral Counseling from the Tennessee Valley Ministry Institute. Pastor Willis is also a Certified Christian Life Coach through the North American Christian Counselors Association.
